Eugene Azuka Uzum Esq hails from Otolokpo village in Ika North east LGA Delta state. He attended Olodi Primary school warri between 1979-1984 where he obtained his first school leaving certificate.
1984, he got admitted into Domdomingos college warri under the tutelage of Mrs. C. O Bakpa and graduated in1991 with flying colours.
Upon his graduation from college his quest for knowledge landed him in Edo state University Ekpoma where he studied Law from 1991 through 1997.
At the Edo state University, he was an active student unionist, he was a member of law student Association and founder House of Justice Chambers in Edo state University Ekpoma.
He was a member of the students caretaker committee 1994, he was also an executive member of Ika students association. He was the NANS mobilizer South south and chief judge SUG Ekpoma.
He got into the Nigeria Law School 1997. At the law school, he was actively involved in student Representative Council of the law school and was subsequently called to the bar.
2001, He was posted to Laffia Nasarawa State and was one the best among the batch A of 2001 corper’s in the state.
In Nasarawa, He was the President Catholic Corper’s Association, president of Tourism club, President of Drama Club, president NYSC legal aid club.
He was the best graduating corper, Ministry of justice Nasarawa state and was finally attached to Nasarawa Judicial Council.
He left Nasarawa to Lagos State in search of greener pastures towards the end of 2001 and briefly worked with Bonajo Badejo and Co. Law firm.
From there he traveled to Kenya, worked with an NGO (World Food Programs) and was on transfer to the following countries: India, Sudan, Somalia, Uganda and Eritrea in 2002.
He left Africa to Valencia in Spain 2002 and ventured into private business and later moved to U.K for his masters in the famous Lincoln University in London.
In UK, he worked with Valiant Support Services as manager and later floated his personal firm Morton Services with staff strength of 80 persons where he helped a lot of Nigerians based in UK.
He bagged his masters 2004 and immediately started his PhD. In Policy and Strategic Studies (PSS).
His PhD course was later cut short when he was called to serve by President Olusegun Obasanjo as Special Assistant to the Minister of Mines and Steel Prof. Obiora Leslie between 2005-2007.
Under Prof Obiora, he supervised a World Bank project SMMRP and there he made so much contacts and at the end of Obasanjo’s administration he worked with splendid Micro Finance bank ABUJA as group head legal and company secretary. He later opened law office of Uzum and Uzum Chambers Garki Abuja.
This culminated to part time politics between Abuja and Asaba.
When the Present Delta State governor Sen (Dr) Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa contested for Senate, Barr. Uzum was the head Media and publicity where he worked directly under Dr Kingsley Emu.
And I believe that whenever the testaments of Okowa’s faithful servants is opened, his name Will be written boldly in it. He was also appointed to serve as Special assistant to Dr Kingsley Emu when he was the Commissioner for Commerce and Industries.
This journey that landed him in Okowa’s constituency office as head constituency projects, he was also then the administrator in charge of projects inspections till 2014 when the office was turned to Okowa Gubernatorial office and was appointed Director of media.
During campaign, he floated so many political support groups such as, Ikoro Ika, Online Coalition, Delta PDP online Coalition, Delta Treaty Coalition, and the most vibrant of all is the Popular Okowability. A name adopted round Delta State.
Upon the victory of Gov Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, the Czar of the youth was finally appointed SSA Special Duties, Orientation and Social development. His dignity, integrity and sensitivity has distinguished him and made him eminent personality among other SSA’s.
As part of recognition of his capacity and reach His Excellency Gov Ifeanyi Okowa later appointed him Executive Assistant on Orientation.
He is currently the pioneer Director General of the State Orientation Bureau.
He is a minority right activist with a penchant for resisting oppressive tendencies. He believes in an egalitarian society, freedom and respect for human dignity.
His hobby is reading and traveling.
