Director General of the Delta State Orientation Bureau, Barrister Eugene Azuka Uzum, has called for a more collaborative support from Deltans, particularly residents in the Asaba Capital Territory area, for the state government initiatives to ensure a cleaner, healthier, beautiful and befitting environment for the state capital territory.
Barrister Uzum made the call in his office in Asaba.
He said that the Asaba Capital Territory Development Agency was a creation of the Okowa Administration to fast track the development of the state capital territory, adding that the state government had held several consultative meetings with relevant stakeholders with a view to ensure environmental sustainability of the area.
He disclosed that keke – tricycles, taxi cabs and buses plying the area would henceforth carry waste bins for effective refuse disposal, just as he said that measures had been put on ground to facilitate disposal of waste around food selling centres in the state capital territory.
Barrister Uzum disclosed further that enabling environmental laws had been made to curb environmental degradation of the Asaba Capital Territory area, adding that mobile courts had been set up to summarily prosecute defaulters of the laws in the area.
